Spotlighting startups for a change to win cash prizes
At ICUBE UTM, we offer many different small pitch competitions to spotlight startups from different categories and sections. Giving each sector an opportunity to shine and win cash prizes.
Pride Pitch
The goal of the Pride Pitch is to provide support and resources for 2SLGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, and to help them succeed in their ventures. By offering cash prizes, the pitch competition hopes to incentivize individuals and teams to pursue their entrepreneurial goals and turn their ideas into reality.
This competition happens annually during the pride month.
Total cash prizes: $10,000
- At least one of the team members identify themselves as 2SLGBTQ+
- Applicants must have less than $150,000 cumulative funding or investment, and less than $50,000 cumulative revenue for the year of application
- Entrants must be able to present their pitch in person to the panelists on the day of event.
- Previous PRIDE Pitch winners are NOT eligible to compete.
- Students, staff and faculty from all U of T three campuses and community members from the Peel region are welcome to apply. Start-ups members of one or any of the U of T Accelerators or OnRamp or students from Sheridan or Humber College are also eligible to participate.
Pitch with a Twist
The goal of the Pitch with a Twist is to provide support and resources for women identifying entrepreneurs, and to help them succeed in their ventures. By offering cash prizes, the pitch competition hopes to incentivize individuals and teams to pursue their entrepreneurial goals and turn their ideas into reality.
This competition happens annually during the women’s month.
Total cash prizes: $10,000
- Must have a self-identified woman founder or co-founder
- Less than $100k in cumulative revenue and/or external investment (Angels, VCs, grants) as of the year of application.
- Entrants must be able to present their pitch in person to the panelists on the day of event.
- Previous Pitch with Twist winners are NOT eligible to compete.
- Students, staff and faculty from all U of T three campuses and community members from the Peel region are welcome to apply. Start-ups members of one or any of the U of T Accelerators or OnRamp or students from Sheridan or Humber College are also eligible to participate.
Ideation Lab Pitch
The goal of the Ideation Lab Pitch is to provide support and resources for our Ideation Lab program entrepreneurs, and to help them succeed in their ventures. By offering cash prizes, the pitch competition hopes to incentivize individuals and teams to pursue their entrepreneurial goals and turn their ideas into reality.
This competition happens three times a year, following the school’s exam season.
Total cash prizes: $5,000
- Member of ICUBEUTM's Ideation Lab program
- Successfully completed the first 2 mandatory in-person sessions as part of the program requirement, plus attended 4 of 6 remaining workshops
- Previous PRIDE Pitch winners are NOT eligible to compete.
- Students, staff and faculty from all U of T three campuses and community members from the Peel region are welcome to apply. Start-ups members of one or any of the U of T Accelerators or OnRamp or students from Sheridan or Humber College are also eligible to participate.
Sauga Pitch
The goal of the Sauga Pitch is to provide support and resources for entrepreneurs residing in the Peel region, and to help them succeed in their ventures. By offering cash prizes, the pitch competition hopes to incentivize individuals and teams to pursue their entrepreneurial goals and turn their ideas into reality.
This competition happens annually.
Total cash prizes: $15,000
- Entrants must be able to present their pitch in person to the panelists on the day of event.
- Previous Sauga Pitch winners are NOT eligible to compete.
- Registrants must be a student or alumni of the University of Toronto or Sheridan College; OR participants of EDGE, ICUBE, SpinUp or IDEA Mississauga programs; OR a resident in the Peel Region.
