MobeyDay Toronto’16

[The 7th and 8th of December marked the beginning of an exciting month for both industry professionals and students. The Mobey Day conference was held at the highly acclaimed Four Seasons Toronto. Inevitably, it was a sell-out event that took place from 8am – 5pm. Each day’s agenda was jammed-packed with representatives from some of the world’s leading companies within the financial technology (Fintech) industry. As such, along with Visa, it was a pleasure for ICUBE to be a sponsoring member for Mobey Day Toronto, hosted by Carta Worldwide.

To start, Mobey Day Toronto brings together an international roster of top decision makers. Additionally, it includes influencers from the financial services and fintech industries for two days of big ideas. It empowers banks and other financial institutions to lead the future of digital services. Moreover, Mobey Day connects industry thought leaders to identify and understand commercial drivers for a better customer experience. As a result, Mobey Forum and Carta Worldwide have teamed up. Together, they have gathered some of the brightest global fintech innovators to discuss digital payment innovation.

In a room full of 30-something bankers and fintech enthusiasts, Mobey Day’s pivots on the rich engagement between audiences and presenters. Ergo, Day 1 included a series of presentations that ranged from Q & A panels to the trends of disruptive innovation in our current society. However, the 10-hour event also included reception intermediaries sponsored by the Government of Ontario.

As the conference emphasizes on new, creative technology in our financial industry, business professionals were not the only attendees of the event. On the 8th of December, Mobey Day 2 held a case competition for contestant finalists. Indisputably, their task was to design the user experience of the future bank.

Although each team displayed an impressive effort, it was the last team which took home the $15,000 award. Furthermore, we are proud to say that Kimiko Yamaguchi from ICUBE’s UTM was also part of the winning group for the competition.

In a nutshell, Mobey Day 2016 was a rewarding experience for all attendees and competitors. Not only did Mobey Day Toronto allow networking between the senior and younger demographic, but it allowed cohesive participation and professional engagement. All in all, Mobey Day was a great opportunity for ICUBE, and we will continue to be proud supporters for Mobey Day.

Unfortunately, the venue for Mobey Day 2017 is not disclosed yet. However, their member meetings and workgroups will be held at Rotterdam, Netherlands. For more information, visit the Mobey Forum.
