Introducing Sauga Pitch’s 2021 Finalists

We are delighted to welcome our innovative community members to Sauga Start-up Pitch & Showcase! We would like to introduce the Sauga Pitch finalists:

Early-Stage Finalists:

Deaf AI

Deaf AI train human-like machines with artificial intelligence to do sign language in order to improve the experience of communicating with people who don’t know sign language and make the real world (society) and virtual world (digital world) more inclusive. They assist service providers, organizations, and businesses to be more accessible to Deaf people and to serve these people in sign language on demand.

TENATCH

Tenatch is an urban technology C2C marketplace start-up that is solving the affordability crisis of small business entrepreneurs where they are facing both expensive rents and established companies like Amazon. Their solution is to group complementary businesses into great spaces gives small businesses a better chance at success.

Curb the Rain

Curb the Rain acts as an intermediary between porous concrete producers and end-users, municipalities, commercial landowners, or residential landowners, who have struggled to adapt to increasingly intense weather events from climate change. Their products and projects help end users adapt to increased rainfall in urban areas by increasing their storage capacity while decreasing the capital costs typically associated with these projects.

The Storyteller’s Tavern

The Storyteller’s Tavern is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game (TTRPG) content website and podcast which focuses on creating inclusive resources and supplements that reflect a shared community and experience for both newcomers and TTRPGs enthusiasts. They believe that through collaborative storytelling, found exclusively in the medium of TTRPGs, they can encourage creativity, shared learning, positive representation, subvert harmful archetypes and tropes, and combat gatekeeping within the TTRPG community. Through the timeless art of storytelling, they can inspire a more colourful and inclusive world that sees value in the lived experiences of others. Lastly, they want to use TTRPGs to illustrate the infinite canvas of storytelling and how it can be used as entertainment and education. 

KABL

KABL is an event planning social media platform that is integrated into reality and hopes to encourage and facilitate real-world interactions. They offer users the ability to preview events and experiences tailored to their likings in real time. KABL consists of an interactive map of the events happening around you and their compatibility with you; from academic seminars, and university tutoring sessions, to bars and concerts. Features include the ability to filter by type of events, average spending budget, and compatibility ratings. KABL view also allows users to preview the event in real time from the comfort of their own home by watching videos and pictures uploaded by people at the event.

Late-Stage Finalists:

Ecosystem Informatics Inc.

Ecosystem Informatics Inc (ESI) is a next-generation Air Quality monitoring and management solution. Its technology is filling the critical need for environmental and meteorological insights. ESI offers accurate mobile and fixed smart sensors powered by patent-pending AI calibration algorithms. They are creating a paradigm shift in ambient monitoring. Their product gives cites, industries & advocacy groups a tool to manage environmental impact and operational efficiencies, helping them achieve sustainability.

Archipelago

Archipelago is a health technology start-up based in Toronto, Canada. The company empowers their clients with knowledge of their own genetics and facilitates virtual guidance with a dedicated fitness coach through genetically tailored workout plans, AI-powered optimization and a supportive online community. They are currently beta testing their service with 50 customers and have seen early revenue. The name, Archipelago, celebrates the uniqueness of each individual and at the same time, recognizes the unity that can be found between us all.

HOPE Pet Food

HOPE is creating pet food products that leave livestock and fish farming behind. They use novel ingredients from insects, algae and fungi to provide all the nutrients our pets need.

Indus Space

Indus Space provides programs and products to engage youth (K-12) in Space Exploration topics as they explore the value in Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) professions, and become part of the next generation of Canada’s workforce. 

Inwit

Inwit is Toronto’s first Zero Waste Food App. It is an innovative solution to eliminate single-use waste in the takeout industry. A marketplace that encompasses a reusable container borrowing system tracked by NFC technology, a rewards system and a food ordering platform.
