Better understand the process of generating your first prototype, access applied research support and work with manufacturers.

Wondering how to go from an idea to a prototype?

This will be a session where you can learn how to build your first tangible prototype and access applied research support.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is most beneficial to early-stage entrepreneurs and changemakers.

It is open to the public including Leap Startup League cohort members, early-stage impact entrepreneurs and UTM students

Speakers

John Lam  | Entrepreneurship & Innovation Specialist, City of Mississauga

John Lam is the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Specialist for the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office, and more specifically, for the Mississauga Business Entrepreneur Centre. His role involves supporting innovative scale-up companies in Mississauga or those who wish to locate in Mississauga. His entrepreneurial experiences stem from starting two ventures, one promoting physical activity to youth through Ultimate Frisbee workshops and another connecting people to mental health resources through chatbot technology. John has also taught entrepreneurship courses as a teaching faculty member at Wilfrid Laurier University, and led start-up incubators at the University of Guelph, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Sheridan College. He studied Recreation, Business and Psychology in undergraduate, completed the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology (MBET) program from the University of Waterloo and is now working towards a PhD in Higher Education with a focus on entrepreneurship education from University of Toronto.
