The Innovation Complex Rotunda bustled with excitement on the morning of March 30, as grade 7 and 8 students from the local community presented their unique inventions. “Invention Convention,” organized by the UTM Admissions Office, ICUBE and The Learning Partnership, tasked young innovative minds to develop a product that addresses an issue that they’ve encountered.
The showcased inventions were astounding: portable water fountains, self-heating boots and a walker with improved safety-features are just three innovative products showcased at the event. Small teams of students developed the inventions themselves, and presented their research and planning process with professionalism and polish. The students showed courtesy, insight and passion when discussing their ideas, and it will be exciting to see how their ideas will evolve. If these students are an indication of future innovations, then it will be an incredibly exciting time for us all.
