Co-founded by super mom CEO Sofia Bonilla, HOPE Pet Food uses hypoallergenic insect protein instead of meat to feed our furry best friends. HOPE is 100 per cent meat-free, junk-free dog food that Bonilla says is better for your pet and the planet.

“Our insect and algae-based recipes taste great and deliver exceptional nutrition, all while cutting emissions,” said Bonilla, adding that many commercial dog foods contain meat by-product and have other concerns about hormones, antibiotics, disease and bacteria transmission.

“I am passionate about using science to build a better future (and) I have recently fulfilled my lifelong dream of becoming an entrepreneur,” said Bonilla. “I have been studying proteins for the past 10 plus years and have worked at the intersection of biology, environment and engineering to find solutions to environmental problems. Currently, I hold a Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct research at the University of Toronto. In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and three children. Thank you to Canada’s Total Mom Pitch to create this opportunity for women entrepreneurs and help us to succeed.”

Canada’s Total Mom Pitch is for mothers all across Canada who own a small business and are ready to invest in themselves. It allows mothers and entrepreneurs to network with women and gets access to Canada-wide resources that offer funding, learning and community. Women face systematic barriers in the process of building their businesses and, for moms, this is compounded. Joining the Total Mom business ecosystem means you’re joining a network of amazing women and resources to help you grow.

Judges are narrowing down the semi-finalists to move into the Top 5 finalists so now is the time to go and cast your vote.
