Introducing our December Startup Spotlight: HeyGenius

Are you curious about some latest up and coming innovations from Canadian entrepreneurs?

If so, you certainly will want to check out HeyGenius. If it’s new to you, HeyGenius is a social enterprise that’s dedicated to helping incubators and accelerators showcase their consumer goods startups.

It’s an all-in-one platform that makes the whole experience of searching for and purchasing products simple. A quick trip to the website heygenius.ca and you can search for items in a variety of categories including consumer electronics, fashion and clothing, home improvement, tools and much more.

When you order through the platform, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re supporting a small or start-up business – which is particularly relevant as many small businesses have been struggling to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whatever you buy will be delivered right to your door at a time that’s convenient for you.

Just a few of the local companies already selling their goods on the site include Ready, Earth, Go!, Sitti Soap, Just Vertical, BSGames and Jacket Strap. All are based in Mississauga and Brampton.

With the holidays fast approaching, HeyGenius is a convenient platform to find the perfect gift for friends and loved ones. They also offer customized gift cards. So, anyone – from incubators to large companies – can request gift cards for any of the stores on the site. The University of Toronto Mississauga’s ICUBE and Positive Space are already taking advantage of this feature.

HeyGenius, which launched in October, is a part of the ICUBE Scale Up program. Being part of the program means the company receives mentorship as well as connections to funding opportunities and exposure plus access to other programs and clients.

Owners of small businesses and start-ups will find many benefits from placing their goods for sale on the website. The company has created a non-competitive environment for small business thanks to the help of its partnered incubators, governmental grants and many pitch competitions.

HeyGenius is a platform that can help you grow your business into something even bigger.
