To help celebrate International Women’s Day, Pitch with a Twist provided a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations in a virtual business pitch competition that was held on March 8th.
Elsie Amoako of Mommy Monitor won the prize for the early-stage category. At Mommy Monitor, their mission is to help all mothers with their individual’s needs and to provide solutions for a safe and happy pregnancy. In doing so, they can help reduce health issues to keep both babies and mothers healthy.
Joella Almeida of MedEssist won the later-stage category. MedEssist is a health-care app that guides clients through their treatments and connects them with their pharmacy for refills. MedEssist is completely free and easy to use. In Canada, it’s supported by three hospitals and more than 130 pharmacies but can be used in any pharmacy. MedEssist is a growing organization helping pharmacies across the country connect with their patients in a completely novel approach that’s both highly impactful and health-care centric. As the COVID-19 vaccines get discussed more frequently, MedEssist will be playing a key role in this vital service. The MedEssist platform – which connects every pharmacy together – can be used to help people receive the COVID-19 vaccines from pharmacies in a safe, efficient, and organized way.
Runners-up included Elaya and Axonaly and the People’s Choice Awards went to Mommy Monitor and Axonaly.
The International Women’s Day edition of the pitch competition that was hosted by ICUBE included 10 women-led start-ups competing for $10,000 in cash prizes and $10,000 in in-kind legal services from Cassels Canadian Law Firm. It was judged by women-identifying panellists.
A big congratulation to our winners.
