His role involves supporting innovative scale-up companies in Mississauga or those who wish to locate in Mississauga. His entrepreneurial experiences stem from starting two ventures\, one promoting physical activity to youth through Ultimate Frisbee workshops and another connecting people to mental health resources through chatbot technology. John has also taught entrepreneurship courses as a teaching faculty member at Wilfrid Laurier University\, and led start-up incubators at the University of Guelph\, Wilfrid Laurier University\, and Sheridan College. He studied Recreation\, Business and Psychology in undergraduate\, completed the Master of Business\, Entrepreneurship & Technology (MBET) program from the University of Waterloo and is now working towards a PhD in Higher Education with a focus on entrepreneurship education from University of Toronto. DESCRIPTION:Watch Ontario entrepreneurs pitch their breakthrough cancer innovations at FACIT’s 9th annual Falcons’ Fortunes Pitch Competition\n\n\n\nFalcons’ Fortunes showcases six entrepreneurs working in the oncology space as they pitch their Made-in-Ontario innovations to an external panel of elite judges. Hosted by FACIT\, this annual event offers the $100\,000 Ernsting Entrepreneurship Award to invest in the most promising oncology research idea. This year’s event will be held online via Zoom. \nWhile the research idea should be novel and sound\, the competition is for the best pitch – that is\, the presentation that best convinces the investor judging panel on the value of the idea and how $100\,000 would improve and/or better illustrate the potential\, and if possible commercial\, value of the innovative idea itself. \nBuilding a culture supportive of entrepreneurship and commercialization in Ontario is    critical to drive innovation. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the BCIC biomedical pitch competition! \nBoston Chinese Investment Club (BCIC)\, ShangHai Zhangjiang Boston Enterprise Park\, Yael Capital\, Massachusetts Avenue Capital\, Q Bay Center\, and Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association-Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter(SAPA-DC) will be cohosting the Biomedical Pitch Competition to connect high-quality early-stage biomedical start-ups with investors and other business accelerator resources. \nWhy should you join?\n\nTop three winning startup teams will get $17\,000 cash award and $20\,000 rental credits from our partnership incubators across multiple cities in the United States and China\, including Boston\, Bay area\, Shanghai\, Beijing and more;\n$1 million and more direct equity investment from well-known venture capitalists (dozens of angel/VC funds will attend the final competition)\nMentorship from venture capitalists\, serial entrepreneurs\, corporate executives\, and attorneys;\nMedia exposure through the websites\, Wechats\, and other channels in cohosters’ network;\nDiscounted services on incubator\, startup Bootcamp\, and financials;\nOpportunities to partner with Asia market influencers and penetrate into Asia markets;\n\nStartup Requirements\n\nComply with the relevant laws\, regulations and policies of China and the United States\, and do not infringe on the intellectual property rights and other legal rights of others. Individuals\, teams and companies participating in the competition shall be responsible for the authenticity and accuracy of the registration information;\nThe ideas or products submitted are innovative and original\, and have certain social and market value;\nUnder biomedical industry or sub-industries;\nSpecify the individual\, company or team when registering for the competition;\nThere is no nationality restriction on participants.
