The term financial technology can apply to any innovation in how people transact business, from the invention of digital money to robo-advice. Since the internet revolution and the mobile internet revolution financial technology has grown explosively, and fintech, which originally referred to computer technology applied to the back office of banks or trading firms, now describes a broad variety of technological interventions into personal and commercial finance.
Speaker bio: Andrew Kirkland, President of Justwealth Financial, is an experienced investment professional who has an unwavering passion for investing, financial planning, and making things right for his clients. Over the last decade, Andrew assumed roles of increasing responsibility at one of Canada’s largest independent asset managers in the areas of client servicing, operations and business development. Andrew obtained his education from the University of Guelph-Humber where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. Andrew holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Investment Manager designations (CIM).

The Ladies Learning Code Introduction to HTML & CSS workshop is designed to be a hands-on experience. During the session, you’ll learn:
- Basic techniques and concepts that are translatable to other programming languages
- The building blocks of how HTML and CSS work together to create richer online experiences
- How to create a rich website with images, video, and a CSS-defined layout

Since 2011, Digifest has been bringing together a dynamic audience of creative professionals from across the country. Attendees are leading voices from the creative industries including graphic designers, web and interactive designers, art directors, studio managers as well as faculty and students from advertising, technology, business, retail, education, and government. It is organized annually by the Digital Media and Gaming Incubator at George Brown College.

Experiential Learning and Work Integrated Learning are big priorities for the Ministry of Education in Ontario. Learn what ICUBE at UTM and the CONRAD Centre at the University of Waterloo have been doing to tie Experiential Learning with Entrepreneurial Activities and Curricula.
Join us for this two-day forum showcasing entrepreneurship and innovation in applied learning, as even some of ICUBE’s own join this year’s line-up of speakers.
ICUBE’s Startup Experience League Program is designed to support a diverse range of undergraduate students and seed and early stage startup companies.
It is comprised of four levels, all with their own co-curricular record (CCR) component. The first three levels involve volunteering with ICUBE and participating in events, and the highest level of the program includes a paid five-week work placement with a start-up company.
Upon completion of the program, students will receive a notation on their CCR record, and an ICUBE Entrepreneurship Certificate.
The first wave of SXL students’ orientation is on the the 31st of May.
ICUBE will be hiring for the program again in July and September, and we encourage you to apply!
